About Spice Bazaar
One stop shop for all your South Asian, Middle Eastern, and African grocery needs.
Located at 4125 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd, Durham, NC 27707, Spice Bazaar operates as an asian grocery store serving Durham in North Carolina. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as asian grocery store, grocery store, spice store, so it may cover more than the name suggests.
Asian grocery stores and supermarkets stock ingredients, snacks and household goods that general American supermarkets often do not carry, organized by category rather than by country of origin in most stores. Produce and live or fresh seafood sections are usually at the back or side of the store, and weekend mornings bring the largest crowds and freshest restock. Many larger Asian supermarkets include a hot deli or food court counter selling prepared meals by the pound or as fixed plates, useful for a quick lunch while shopping. Labels are frequently bilingual or untranslated, so store staff can usually help locate a specific ingredient if you ask. Cash, cards and mobile pay are all commonly accepted at larger chains; smaller specialty shops may be cash-preferred.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 10 amβ9 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (919) 490-3747. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, spicebazaar2.com.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.3 out of 5 from 350 reviews, which is a strong result for an asian grocery store in Durham and suggests consistent service.
Durham is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Traffic in Durham peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

This has quickly become my favourite desi grocery store in the area. The owner and staff are always welcoming, and the chai is excellent. They have a great selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, a huge range of spices and pantry staples, plus frozen halal meats. Thereβs plenty of parking, too. From the outside it doesnβt look like much, but inside youβll find just about everything a desi heart could desire. Highly recommended!

I had a great experience at this shop! The owner is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything you need. They go out of their way to make sure customers feel comfortable and valued. The service is excellent, and you can really tell they care about their business and their customers. Iβll definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a pleasant and reliable shopping experience!

Sold us mango pulp that was expired for over a year. If you really canβt get what you need from somewhere else nearby, please be careful when buying things from here. EDIT (in reply to owner): At no other store does βclearanceβ mean inedible. Please stop poisoning your customers.

I hate to give less than stellar reviews, but unfortunately, some products we purchased were expired. I didn't realize this until I tried the mango puree (discounted price: 3.99) and it tasted off - then noticed it was expired by over a year, among other items. The shop owner seemed friendly though, but sadly I can't use some of the products I purchased. Edit: changed my rating because the owner appears to justify selling expired products and suggest that it is our fault since they're on clearance (costed 4 dollars btw, I wouldn't even take it if it was given to me for free). This isn't limited to one product. For example, I also got flour packs that were labeled BOGO but I was still charged for both packs (later saw they're both expired). I usually go out of my way to be polite, but I cannot in good faith endorse the owner's justification of intentionally selling expired products. I genuinely hope your shop does well, and I may consider visiting again when conditions improve.

A paradise for Indian shoppers. The shop owner, James, is very friendly and zestful. They also deliver at nominal delivery charges.
